Staffing University: Recruiting people from outside the staffing industry who could be a good match for sales & recruiting, then pre-training them prior to starting their first day with your company. This is a way to convert people with no prior staffing experience into having the eqvuivalent of 1 to 2 years experience. In fact, the Staffing University pre-training program can give your new hires enough information to match what normally takes people to learn 5 years in the staffing industry! These people do not have non competes to get in the way, and they are usually looking for a new opportunity which makes them more affordable than head hunting experienced staffing professionals from other staffing companies.

Take time to read this page as we are explaining an important service, while also identifying a serious problem many staffing companies face on a regular basis, which will become more serious in 2010 and 2011.

The slow economy caused upwards of 50% of the people once in the staffing industry to leave due to downsizing and staffing companies going out of business. Most of those people are not coming back. This means the talent pool left in the staffing industry has been drained down to a very low level.

Coming out of the slow economy most all staffing companies are either in the hiring mode, or thinking of hiring as all want to rebuild in a post recession recovery period. But with the talent pool drained down so low, there are not enough experienced staffing professionals left in the industry for all staffing companies to hire and rebuild with. There will become increasing pressure to recruit experienced staffing professionals which will cause the salaries to increase and make it more difficult to recruit experienced branch managers, sales reps and recruiters.

It is not always possible to hire the perfect match experienced staffing professionals. One example is if sales people are good, they may be earning commissions above their base salary where they are too expensive for you to hire. Or, maybe they have strict non-competes where they cannot go back after their previous customers slowing down a ramp up time if they switched companies.

Plan B is to hire people from outside of staffing and train them. In fact, it will take at least 5 years of staffing companies hiring entry level and training to replenish the talent pool back to pre-recession levels. And, although you would think with higher unemployment it would be easy to advertise and find decent people worthy of hiring & training, that is not the case. It is a unique person who truly is a good match for a career in staffing. They must have the personality and the right type of sales experience where they can keep up with the pace. Finding a good person from outside of staffing who is worthy of training will require that you post the same job to brand name job boards in the same city, many times over several weeks, even months, to produce just one decent candidate! This extra work will distract your managers from revenue producing activity and cost a great deal as time does equal money! And to be very honest, being we have many years of experience specifically recruiting and training people here in the staffing industry, we can help your company avoid making costly hiring mistakes because we can weed out people whom your managers may otherwize have hired.

Staffing University is a common sense solution to this problem.

We have developed a very good overall staffing 101 training program called Staffing University. This covers management, sales and recruiting. It also covers temp and perm, and explains the differences between staffing of clerical and other niches such as IT. When a person studies this information, they will learn more right up front than most people learn in up to 3 years actually working for staffing companies. We can recruit people from outside of staffing and put them through this pre-training program which converts them into having the eqvuilalent of1 to 3 years of actual experience prior to starting their first day with your company. And, these people will not have problems with non-competes nor do they have to be talked into quitting a job to switch companies!

How does this work? We would act just like your part time internal HR Recruiter handling all the work related to advertising jobs, screening resumes, interviewing candidates, all so your managers are not distracted away from sales related work to do this themselves. I want to reiterate that even with high unemployment, it can take a month or more of advertising and screening dozens of people to find just one person who might be a good match for a career in staffing. Handling that would distract your managers from other revenue producing work making your cost per hire more expensive than you might realize. We would also used Linkedin and other resources to do some proactive recruiting to help find such people for your company. However, acting as your part time internal HR recruiter, when candidates surfaced who were worthy of being hired and trained to either sell or recruit we would put them through the Staffing University pre-training program which brings their knowledge of staffing up to the level many people take 3 years to learn. This is a cost effectitve alternative to your trying to hire experienced staffing professionals away from your competition.

People who come through this program will not have a non-compete, they are not burned out on staffing, they are fresh and eager, and they are very well educated and prepared knowing more about staffing than many people who actually have experience.

The cost for Staffing University is a low flat fee per hire and candidates are guaranteed for 90 days.

We are the only resource in the entire staffing industry that offers this service.

If you are an Owner or Executive, reach out to me to schedule a call so we can introduce ourselves. Even if we do not end up working together, I can share important information as from my position I get to see what is working, and what is not working across the entire staffing industry. A call between us would be both interesting and well worth your time.
